Playa potrero Grande. Perfect Place to Learn to Surf.
All of our classes take place at Playa potrero Grande (Guanacaste), where the waves are perfect for learning to surf. The beach is a long stretch of white sand and is generally not crowded.
Have a Couple Hours to Learn?
Beach Coco is 20 kilometers from Liberia. The dark-sand beach and noisy atmosphere do not reflect the typical Costa Rican beaches, which are known for white sand and tranquility. Beach Coco is close to Santa Rosa National Park, where two well-known breaks, Witch’s Rock (Roca Bruja) and Ollie’s Point (Potrero Grande), are easily accessible.
Renowned for its enormous rock, Witch’s Rock is 45 minutes by boat from beach Coco. The break has a sandy bottom and is generally not crowded. It is precisely known for its fast and hollow breaks originating from the right. Smaller waves can also occur to the left. Witch’s Rock is best surfed at mid- to high tide, when waves can reach 10 feet. The perfect visiting timing is from December to March, when the offshore winds are predominant along the breaks.
Ollie’s Point cab can be reached only by boat and is a 20-minute drive north of Witch’s Rock. It is one of the most northern points on the west coast of Costa Rica and became famous by the cult-classic surf movie, “The Endless Summer.” The break has a reef bottom and can be surfed by surfers of all levels. Beginners and intermediates will want to surf during low and mid-tide, while advanced surfers might want to ride only during high tide.
